Meadowmat wild flower turf – winter availability

Don’t let winter weather put you off creating a wildflower area.  Wild flower seed can only be sown in autumn or spring but Meadowmat wild flower turf can be installed at any time of year.

Choose the right mix of wild flowers for your project

For winter 2016/17 there are four grades of Meadowmat available

Traditional, Cottage Garden, Roof and Garden and Birds and Bees

Each type of Meadowmat is distinctively different.  So whether you like bright colours, pastels a long flowering period of a short burst of colour, there is a Meadowmat variety for you.

For the look and feel of an olde English wild flower meadow

Choose traditional Meadowmat.  This looks nice and green and neat through autumn, winter and early spring.  As spring draws on, a few flowers start to appear and then in early summer it erupts into a cacophony of colour and is a great support for wildlife.

For the longest flowering period and winter interest

Choose Meadowmat for birds and bees.  This Meadowmat has been developed for maximum wildlife benefit.  Flowering species are particularly rich in pollen and nectar to support butterflies and bees.  On a mild year, blooms start to open as early as February and continue well into the autumn.  Seedheads form in autumn and help to support birds during the winter.

For bright, jewel-like colours

Go for Meadowmat for Roofs and Gardens.  Bright yellows, sparkling whites, hot pinks and vibrant blues feature in this mix.  If you want your wildflower area to have maximum visual impact, this is the Meadowmat for you.

For beds and borders

I personally like Meadowmat for Cottage Gardens.  A nice long flowering period with a mix of native wildflowers and cottage garden favourites.  This Meadowmat perfectly recreates the relaxed, country garden style so often captured in paintings.

For shady areas

There is also a Meadowmat for woodland shade – stocks will be available in spring 2017.

For best value

Traditional Meadowmat - definitely.

Winter holiday closing times

The staff at Meadowmat are taking a few days off over the Christmas holidays but will be back to work and ready to answer questions from 3rd January 2017.

That means that Meadowmat can be delivered to your door from 5th January onwards.

Weather permitting really only refers to very heavy rain, snow or frost – the sort of thing that means we can’t physically lift the Meadowmat off the field.  Realistically, you probably wouldn’t want to be landscaping in those weather conditions either.

In mild weather, Meadowmat will start to establish straight away and come spring time you will be rewarded with strong plants and beautiful flowers.
